Buying a home or investment property?
Amongst the important things to consider is the termite and
borer status of your intended purchase. You need to be sure
your newly acquired building is free from both previous structural
pest damage and current infestations.
Our popular PPI - Structural Pest Inspection is designed to
conform to AS4349.3 (the required Standard) and includes a thorough
inspection of the property, identifying termite
damage, termite activity, borer damage, borer activity, previous history
of structured pest treatments (where evidence is gained), construction
termite methods put in place during the building process, wood-decay,
ventilation of subfloors (where applicable) and can include a Termite
& Borer Management Solution for longer term protection of your
valuable asset. Building inspections can also be arranged for your
one-stop convenience. We offer 24 hour turnaround on reports if requested.
24/7 booking available for your peace-of-mind in this important function.
Termite Inspections for Home Owners
& Absentee Landlords
AS3660 series of
standards Australia (Guidelines for protection of existing
structures against subterranean termites) recommends the maximum
period between professional termite inspections be 12 months.
This is where our popular ANNUAL SUBTERRANEAN TERMITE INSPECTION
comes in. We carry out a thorough inspection to the property
including boundaries, fence
lines, garden furniture, retaining walls, pergola,
something, house external gardens & garden beds, external house
structure, all accessible timbers to the internal of the house including
through the man hole to the roof void. Where applicable, soil-subfloor
areas are also thoroughly inspected. We look for and point out to
the homeowner any hazardous situations and provide options for continued
termite & borer protection of the structure through out detailed
report.
Eradication of Live
Termites
Termites if discovered
in fences, retaining timbers, garden furniture, the house
structure can all be “topically” treated by the
use of Tran locatable toxicant baits, the direct physical
destruction of the nest or liquid pyrethroid solutions. This
treatment will not prevent attack from other termite colonies;
it only eradicates the colony treated.
This method of treatment may be most suitable in cases wherethe
nest is positively identified,
remembering however, that the best form of termite
protection is “whole of house” protection. Liquid soil
treatments are the most easily recognisable & effective means
of achieving this “whole of house” protection.
Termite Soil Treatment (Chemical
Barrier)
By far the worst experience a homeowner
will ever have is finding LIVE TERMITES eating their home. In
times past, this situation called for the installation of a
very toxic chemical inside and around the perimeter of your
home. These days the termiticides we use are of low toxicity.Once
they are
applied they pose no threat to humans or animals.
We install the chemical barrier by trenching soil on the external
foundations of the house, drilling apron concrete & injecting
these compounds into the soil very close to the house. The installation
of a termiticide soil barrier to the house-structure before termites
entrench themselves is money well spent. The termiticides will protect
your home from termites for up to 10 years. Any termites that come
in contact with the chemical barrier will die and in some cases you
will kill their colony.
Camilleri Reticulation Systems
These underground
pipe systems, installed under and around the perimeter of
a structure, negate the need for drilling through concrete,
tiles or paving every few years in order to replenish or refresh
a termite chemical barrier. Because the new generationof termiticides
is designed to bio-degrade over a few years after application,
we at Stephen's
Pest Control became trained and
accredited Camilleri Installers. Again, this popular product
allows us to replenish the chemical barrier protecting your
home when required, with no drilling, no concrete dust and an
economically viable investment in the refreshed barrier. This
system is applicable to most types of construction including
existing buildings.
The initial larger investment by the owner in this system installation,
we believe, should be recouped by the lower
on-going system's re-charging fees over a short number of years.
We also foresee the future benefits to the owner of yet-to-be-released
products, once registered, being pumped into the system at minimal
rates in the future.
Kordon Termite Barrier
Since the introduction of stainless-steel
mesh & graded-stone termite barriers for new constructions,
which have replaced the old dangerous Organo Chloride Deildrin type
chemicals, we have noticed an increase throughout Queensland of
industry nightmares eg. Forest Lake. After 20 years of installing
the old style chemical barriers we searched the world for a physical
barrier we could confidently use in new constructions. We finally
narrowed-down the field to Kordon TB and TMB, being what we believe
is the 5 Star Solution to pre-construction termite control for new
dwellings. We gained accreditation, as Kordon Installers in November
2001 and since that time have been busy installing this premium
barrier in new homes, extensions and numerous unusual new structures.
This popular termite barrier is usually only suitable for new homes
under-construction but is also registered as an existing structure
(or Retro-fit) barrier. 10 year written warranty applies to our
Kordon Installations. Highly recommended if air-borne chemicals
are of concern.
